South Side Rail Road Company stock certificate 1851

Very difficult Virginia RR piece with beautiful vignette of a very early steam locomotive.  Smaller certificate measuring 5.5" by 9 ".  Issued and not cancelled.  Dated 1851.

Incorporated in Virginia in 1846; ran from Petersburg to Lynchburg, Va. (123 miles); consolidated with Norfolk and Petersburg, Virginia and Tennessee, and Virginia and Kentucky railroads in 1870 to form Atlantic, Mississippi & Ohio Railroad Company.

Over 160 years old.  Very early railroad stock from VA!
