American Lux Light Co stock certificate circa 1906

Stunning certificate with multiple vignettes (American eagle and the company's gas lamp) and an amazing under-printing of a native american indian chief and rays of light in orange. Unissued and not cancelled. Dated 190_ but circa 1906 from incorporation.

Established in Dunkirk NY by a Swedish company (Lux Light), American Lux Light manufactured gas lamps for street lighting. The company operated from 1906 until 1914 on 212 Dove Street in Dunkirk with a workforce of over 200. The location near Lake Erie provided a steady supply of iron for the plant. The Lux gas lamp produced its own supply of gas by vaporizing kerosene.  Although said to operate at one fourth the cost of electric lights, the company's line of goods was outdated by electric streetlamps.
