Product Description
Meadow Creek Coal Company stock certificate circa 1920
Nice coal collectible with a wonderful vignette of a perched eagle with wings spread holding an American shield. Unissued and not cancelled. Circa 1920 from incorporation records.
Headquarters in Beckley WV, the company operated mines in New River area as well as Putnam TN for bituminous coal and lignite-surface material. Meadow Creek not only mined but also created model towns with company houses, stores, and even playgrounds. The company was merged into the larger New River Company during the Depression due to capital expenditures for mining and transport.
