Ocean Oil Company stock certificate circa 1860's
Unusual blue certificate with a great vignette of early oil wells with men staging barrels near a river city scene. Unissued but circa 1860's. Great oil history collectible.
Incorporated in 1864, the Ocean oil Company (Philadelphia) drilled in the newly discovered oil fields of Venango County, Pennsylvania. later, the company operated refineries in Bayonne, NJ.
The company merged with Tide Water oil Company in 1888.
