The Riverfront Railroad Company stock certificate circa 1876

Uncommon Philadelphia railroad find. This stock certificate features an engraved vignette of the City of Philadelphia seal. Unissued and cancelled (punches through signature lines). Circa 1876 from incorporation.

Incorporated in 1876 in Philadelphia PA. It operated as a subsidiary short line around Philadelphia hauling freight from the docks to manufacturing operations nearby. It was eventually purchased in entirety by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in January 1903.
