Product Description
Atlantic Beverage Corp stock certificate 1916 (Petersburg Virginia)
Rare 1920s VA soda bottler! Small vignette of an eagle. Virginia state seal front and back in the top corners. Issued and not cancelled. Dated 1916. Measures approximately 11 x 8 inches.
Incorporated 1910s, the Atlantic Beverage Corporation was located in Petersburg, Virginia on Halifax Street.
The company bottled the Queen Cola soft drink which was a local brand. Queen Cola was a soda brand that was a rival to Coca-Cola, using a similar diamond pattern on its labels to capitalize on Coke's branding during that era.
Bottles and advertising signs from the 1920’s reference Queen Cola made by the Atlantic Beverage Company in Petersburg VA. Queen Cola Bottling Co., Inc., was established in LaCrosse, Va on December 29, 1916 (state of VA records) but had offices in Petersburg VA (reference to the Queen Cola Building in period newspaper).
Newspaper articles mention the brand and the company up until 1928 so it is possible that the brands and the bottler failed during the Depression.
