Uncommon early KY banking piece with multiple vignettes of classical figures of industry, justice, and Liberty. Fine condition. Issued and cancelled. Dated 1862. Approximately 10 x 6.5 inches.
With main offices in Louisville, the bank had branches in Frankfort, Lexington, Maysville, Danville, Greensburg, Bowling Green, and Hopkinsville as printed in the upper and lower borders. The Bank of Kentucky was chartered by the legislature of Kentucky in 1834. Its charter was subsequently twice extended, but was repealed by an act approved March 22, 1900. On May 1st, 1900, the National Bank of Kentucky was organized and took over its assets.
