Barnard Toy Company stock certificate 1922 (Michigan)

Rare piece of Michigan toy manufacturing history. Classic eagle vignette with wings spread. Issued and not cancelled. Vertical folds from mailing with light splits at edges. Hand signed by Charles E, Barnard as president. Dated 1922. Measures approximately 11 x 8 inches.   

Barnard Toy Company was incorporated 1920 and based in Detroit Michigan. Its main building was located at 2735-2765 West Fort Street. The company also ran a store front and production in Ann Arbor MI before moving production to Detroit.

Production:
At its peak, the company was a significant manufacturer, reportedly producing over five million toys and souvenirs per year (according to their Ann Arbor ads of the era).

Ann Arbor Location:
For a short period in the 1920s, the company occupied the former Krapf Planing Mill building in Ann Arbor. However, by 1930, city directories listed the building as vacant again.
