The Beacon Chocolate Company was a Massachusetts-based corporation started in the 1910s. Court case documents from 1926 mention the company was a Boston corporation. Expansion in 1919 had the Beacon Chocolate Company, at 367 Broadway, Boston, installing two more Burns No. 5 cocoa roasters. A 1919 newspaper help wanted ad noted they were hiring “experienced fancy packers and girls for bar wrapping machine also experienced hand stringers.”
The company was associated with the Ace High Chocolate Company which was established 1919 in Boston. Court documents show the Beacon Chocolate Company “(for) Purposes of the corporation amended Name changed to Ace High Chocolate Company.”
By 1914, candy manufacturing had grown immensely and was the third biggest industry in Boston by value of product. There were seventy-nine confectioners listed in the Boston directory in 1914. Thirty-one of them were in a group called the "New England Confectioner's (or Confectionery) Club." By 1950, there were an estimated 140 candy companies in Boston and Cambridge.
