Beautiful green and gold certificate with a stunning eagle and American shield vignette. Unissued. Circa 1914. Small tear in the upper left border that does not show when laid flat.
In 1914, the Comptroller of Currency approved the application to convert the First State bank of Bogata, TX into the Bogata National Bank. It became the first national bank in the area with this action could distribute currency under the bank name. In 1925, the bank was closed by the directors but the business was taken over by the First National Bank of Bogota. In 1988, The First National Bank of Bogata was assumed by Peoples National Bank of Bogata, a newly- chartered national bank subsidiary of Peoples National Bancshares, Inc., of Paris, TX.
