Devon Resource Investors was an Oklahoma City-based oil and gas master limited partnership (MLP) created by Devon Energy in 1985 to attract investment in acquisitions, but it was consolidated into a new, publicly traded Devon Energy Corp in 1988, dissolving the MLP and distributing stock to unitholders. Today, Devon Energy (DVN) is a large, independent energy producer focused on oil and gas, known for strategic acquisitions and operational efficiency, with major institutional investors holding its stock.

Launch (1985):
Formed by Devon Energy to leverage the MLP structure for acquiring oil and gas properties, offering tax benefits to investors.

Consolidation (1988):
Unitholders approved merging Devon Resource Investors with other Devon entities to form the modern Devon Energy Corporation.
