Erie & Wyoming Valley Railroad Company stock certificate circa 1882 (Pennsylvania)

Uncommon and lesser known railroad collectible. Wonderful vignette of steam train of the era at a passenger train depot.  Unissued and not cancelled. Dated 18__ but circa 1862 from incorporation records. Measures approximately 10 x 7 inches.

The Erie & Wyoming Valley Railroad (E&WV) was a Pennsylvania railroad incorporated in 1882 that extended a line from Scranton to Hawley in the 1880s, initially connecting its namesake Wyoming Valley region to the Erie Railroad network. It was later acquired by The Jones Lake Rail Road Company, an earlier name for the Erie Railroad's network.  As a branch of the broader Erie Railroad, it provided freight and passenger service, but its operations eventually ceased after the Erie and Lackawanna railroads merged in 1961 and the line was closed.
