First Financial Bancorp Inc. (Belvidere, IL) was acquired by Blackhawk Bancorp Inc. on 09/01/1998. Previously, First Financial operated as the holding company for First Federal Savings Bank. Its principal business involved originating and servicing residential first mortgage loans secured by properties in northern Illinois from its facilities in Belvidere and Rockford. In addition, the bank provided consumer and commercial banking, brokerage, and insurance services.
