Nice Maine finance collectible. Nice vignette of a classical female figure reclining on the Maine state seal in from of maritime (steamship) and railroad scenes. Issued and cancelled. Dated 1914. Measures approximately 9 x 6 inches.
The First National Bank of Biddeford was established 1856 in Biddeford, Maine, operating under charter number 1089. It was eventually acquired and absorbed into the Maine National Bank (MNB) system in 1981.
In 1982, MNB acquired Merchants National Bank of Bangor. In 1986, MNB acquired The Dirigo Bank and Trust Company (Augusta ME). In 1986, t acquired Aroostook Trust Company (Caribou ME), In 1991 MNB failed was acquired with government financial assistance and subsequently operated as part of New Maine National Bank which merged into (1991) Fleet Bank of Maine (Portland ME).
