Small town VA transport. Plain certificate circa Great Depression in Western part of Virginia coal mining town. Unissued and not cancelled. Dated 19__ but circa 1931 from historical records in the area. Measuring approximately 11 x 8.5 inches. 

Incorporated circa 1931 in Virginia, Grundy DeLuxe Cabs provided local transportation services in Buchanan County around the coal mining period and coal yard operation during the Depression. It filled a niche where buses and mine company transportation was lacking. It is believed that one of the major floods damaged the offices and vehicles, shutting down the business.

Grundy is a town in Buchanan County, Virginia, United States, an area located within the Appalachian Mountains region. It is the county seat of Buchanan County. Legislation establishing Buchanan County in 1858 designated a plot of land at the confluence of the Levisa Fork River and Slate Creek as the seat of government for the county and directed the erection of the county courthouse on the plot, which marked the beginnings of what would be Grundy.It was incorporated in 1876. The present courthouse dates from 1905 and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1982. Since the late 19th century, this area depended on coal mining as the basis of its economy. The decline in mining resulted in a loss of jobs and population
