Founded 1905 in Chicago but incorporated in Arizona, the International Banana Food Company was established by Henry H. Porter. From advertising, the company did business at least through 1911.
Their product, Bonano, was advertised as a healthy drink that “inspires, calms excited nerves, aids digestion, and, being made from fruit, is corrective”. The company, headquartered in the Stock Exchange building in Chicago, Illinois, manufactured a coffee substitute called "Bonano". This product was marketed as a healthful table drink made from pure, roasted banana flesh, intended to look and taste similar to coffee (see attached ads).
