Product Description
Kentucky Press Club stock certificate c1911 (Louisville)
KY press corps! Elaborate vignette of a period candlestick phone. Unissued and not cancelled. Circa 1911 from corporate activity. Measures approximately 11 x 8 inches.
Incorporated 1911 in Louisville KY, The Kentucky Press Club was a newspaper trade association that was intended to maintain order in the industry and include ethics guidelines to their journalists. As a fraternal organization, it promoted company and individual success. There were other branches outside of Louisville that operated independently.
While they developed and backed a form of press passes for their members, the group was not as well organized as the Kentucky Press Association and the group folded during the 1920s. Some of the downfall was infighting around candidate support in political contests.
