New York Railways Participation Corp stock certificate 1926 (New York)

NYC streetcars. Nice vignette of an electric trolley with passengers. Oversized (bond-sized) format for a stock certificate. Issued and cancelled. Dated 1926. Vertical folds from storage. Measuring approximately 13.5 x 9 inches.  

New York Railways Participation Corporation, a holding company for Manhattan's street railways from the 1920s, but the phrase also relates to modern public involvement in New York's diverse rail systems, including commuter (MTA/LIRR/Metro-North), Amtrak, and freight rail.

The New York Railways Company operated street railways in Manhattan, New York City, from 1911 to 1925. In 1919, the company went into receivership, and control was transferred to the New York Railways Corporation in 1925. Afterward, all its remaining lines were replaced with bus routes.
