Uncommon Oregon railway piece with a nice vignette of an older steam train passing by water and mountains. Unissued and not cancelled. Circa 1867 from company records. Dated 186_.
Incorporated in Oregon 1867, the company represented the proposed railroad between Eugene OR and Winnnemucca NV. It would connect the Oregon Central and the Central Pacific railroads. B.J. Pengra promoted the Oregon Central Military Wagon Road which later became the route for the railroad.
Beginning in 1867 with the incorporation of “The Oregon Branch Pacific Railroad”, it became the “Oregon Branch Pacific Rail Road Company” in 1868, followed by the “Oregon Branch of the Pacific Rail Road” later in 1868, and the “Oregon Branch Pacific Railroad Company” in 1870.
