The Presidio Motion Pictures Corporation was founded in the early 1920s in Nevada for the purpose of filming and producing movies of the silent era. The company made westerns but also coordinated sets for military films. The company arranged for battle scenes on the military base Presidio in San Francisco. The producers liaised with the post commander and use of actual soldiers as extras,

A presidio (jail, fortification) was a fortified base established by the Spanish Empire mainly between the 16th and 18th centuries in areas under their control or influence. The term is derived from the Latin word praesidium meaning protection or defense.
