The Ridgeway Company was a prominent real estate and land development enterprise chartered in North Carolina on August 22, 1868. Formed right after the Civil War by local planters like Dr. William J. Hawkins and business partners including Jonathan McGee Heck, it aimed to rebuild local fortunes and settle the Ridgeway area in Warren County.
Chartered by North Carolina entrepreneurs, including Jonathan McGee Heck, Dr. William J. Hawkins, Peter R. Davis, and A.F. Johnson.
Designed to spur land development, immigration, and economic recovery in Warren County around the Raleigh and Gaston Railroad.
Associated with prominent local historic structures like Oakley Hall built for railroad president William J. Hawkins.
