Uncommon NY banking piece! Classic eagle vignette at the top with sailing ship to the left and train to the right. Issued and pen cancelled. Dated 191 (over 190_ block and date on certificate back. No holes through the vignette as found on later year issuances. Approximately 10.5 x 8.5 inches.
The State Bank of Williamson was incorporated in Williamson, New York, in 1905. It was chartered on July 14, 1905, with an initial capital stock of $30,000 and operated at 18 West Main Street. FDIC registered in 1934. The State Bank of Williamson was a bank that joined the Federal Reserve system in 1941.
At some point (believe 1941), the State Bank of Williamson was purchased by the Central Trust Company, when Bankers Trust merged with Central Trust
Williamson is a town on the south shore of Lake Ontario in the northwest part of Wayne County, New York, United States. The population was 6,984 at the time of the 2010 census. The town is named after Charles Williamson, a land agent of the Pulteney Estate. Williamson was created in 1802 from the Town of Sodus and originally was much larger than its present-day borders. Later, other towns were created from parts of Williamson, including: Ontario in 1807 and Marion in 1825.
