The original Superior Electric Company was founded in Bristol, Connecticut, in 1938 by Alfred B. Nelson and Thor L. Hannon. The Dana Corporation agreed to acquire the Superior Electric Company in May 1989.
Superior manufactured and marketed voltage control and conditioning equipment. The company produced and distributed transformers, lighting controls, electrical connectors, and more.
