Tilt Top Cap and Closure Co. stock certificate c1931 (Missouri)
Product Description
Tilt Top Cap and Closure Co. stock certificate c1931 (Missouri)
Bottle cap manufacturing equipment. Stunning vignette of two classical male figures flanking a seated classical bare breasted female, all with city scenes in the background. Unissued and not cancelled. Circa 1931 from company incorporation. Dated 19__ on the certificate. Approximately 11 x 8 inches.
The Tilt Top Cap and Closure Co. was incorporated in Delaware in 1931 by Charles Brockett and was involved in the manufacturing of equipment to make bottle caps with cork liners and flip top lids for containers. With manufacturing operations in Philadelphia PA and St Louis Missouri, the company provided equipment via leases to manufacturers of caps.
The company was dissolved and product line went into storage in the 1940s but its equipment was used into the 1950s. Unfortunately, their crown design was obsolete and lost favor in standardization efforts (along with the scarce supply of cork) in the bottling industry just before World War 2.
