United Electric Light Company stock certificate c1904 (Pennsylvania) 

Local electric provider near Pittsburgh. Vignette of Roman god Mercury seated on an electric generator with industrial scenes in the background. Unissued and not cancelled. Dated 19xx but circa 1904 from company records. Measures approximately 12.5 x 8.5 inches.

The United Electric Light Company was established 1904 in Wilmerding, PA, around the early 1900s, formed by local capital (including Henry Harris) to compete with existing power providers like the Monongahela Light, Heat & Power Company. It was a local venture rather than a widespread utility, eventually absorbed or replaced by larger entities, with current PA electric service handled by Duquesne Light.

The company also  had franchise contracts with East McKeesport from 1906 to 1918 for the furnishing of electricity for lighting streets and alleys.
