Great cattle ranch piece from the Dakotas. Perfect vignette of a prized bull on as farm. Additional bull vignette on the stub. Unissued and not cancelled. Circa 1885 from state records. Approximately 11 x 5.5 inches with stub. 

The Wild Rice Farm and Stock Company was incorporated in De Lamere, Dakota Territory in 1885. It operated a cattle ranch as part of the agricultural and land development history of the American northern plains during the territorial period.

Dakota Territory became North and South Dakota states in 1889. The name of the company refers to the community of Wild Rice, which was platted in 1884 in what is now North Dakota. A post office called Wild Rice was established in 1884, and remained in operation until 1970. The community was originally built up chiefly by French Canadians.

Wild Rice, ND is a small unincorporated community in Cass County, North Dakota. It sits near the Wild Rice River, about 9 miles south of Fargo. The river was so named for the former abundance of wild rice along its course.
