Founded in 1892 by William M. Chenery in Portland Maine for the purpose of importing, manufacturing, and dealing in cotton, woolen, and fancy goods. William was president and his brother Edward was secretary. The company made laces and embroideries as well as other clothing items for sale in Boston in New York. Their product line included linens, gloves, hosiery and underwear, laces, embroideries, muslin goods, women's and children's dresses.
