Interesting railroad equipment company. Fantastic vignette of a reclined classical female figure with hammer and anvil in front of an industrial scene. Unissued and not cancelled. Circa 1899 from company records. Measures approximately 12 x 7 inches.   

The American Railway Equipment Company was incorporated in New Jersey in 1899 and was an enterprise involved in the buying, selling, and leasing of railroad rolling stock (railcars).  

The American Railway Equipment Company was an early 20th-century corporate entity involved in the railroad industry.

Historical records indicate multiple regional registrations, including an incorporation in East St Louis Illinois in 1896, charters in New Jersey in 1899, and stock certificates issued out of Nevada as late as 1931.

The company gained notable mention in historic news when it brokered the sale of Henry Ford's private luxury railroad car, the Fairlane, to the St. Louis Southwestern Railway in 1942.

Furthermore, archival data ties aspects of its early manufacturing history to the McGuire-Cummings Manufacturing Company, a builder of streetcars, interurbans, and snow plows.
