Bank of Kentucky stock certificate 1842 (Louisville KY)

Rare early KY banking piece! Multiple vignettes - female cameos in upper left and  right, classical baby cherubs at left and right of center vignette, center vignette of lady liberty with American eagle, and perched eagle on a rocky outcrop at the bottom.  Tape repair at the top. Issued and cancelled. Dated 1842. Approximately 9 x 5.5 inches.

With main offices in Louisville, the bank had branches in Frankfort, Lexington, Maysville, Danville, Greensburg, Bowling Green, and Hopkinsville as printed in the upper and lower borders. The Bank of Kentucky was chartered by the legislature of Kentucky in 1834. Its charter was subsequently twice extended, but was repealed by an act approved March 22, 1900. On May 1st, 1900, the National Bank of Kentucky was organized and took over its assets.
