The Bingham Mines Company (and its predecessor, Bingham Consolidated Mining & Smelting Company) was a major mining operator in Utah's Bingham Canyon, incorporated in Maine in 1908. It was not a Maine-based mine but a Utah operation structured as a Maine corporation for legal and financial purposes.
Reorganization:
The company was reorganized as the Bingham Mines Company in 1908 from the Bingham Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company, which was established in 1901.
Utah Operations:
The company managed extensive mining properties in Utah, including the Dalton & Lark mines.
Corporate Structure:
It was legally incorporated in the state of Maine.
Acquisition:
In 1929, the firm was acquired by the United States Smelting Company, which was later acquired by Kennecott Corporation.
