Product Description

Crescent Silver Company stock certificate c1872 (Ohio - Colorado)

Amazing CO mining piece!  Great triple vignette. Top vignette has a mining scene of several men working underground. The bottom is an artist interpretation of the Colorado state seal. Along the left side is an awesome vignette of men working in a mine shaft.  Unissued and not cancelled. Circa 1872 from issued examples. Approximately 11 x 6.5 inches.

Crescent Silver Company of Cincinnati was incorporated in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1869, but whose main business was silver and metal mining in Colorado, specifically in the Argentine District of Clear Creek County.

Title to the company's property was sold due to financial difficulties in 1874 to Charles Mendenhall (formerly the President of the company) who created the Stevens Mining Company to mine the property. William Mendenhall served as agent for the Crescent Silver Company, and later with his uncle Cyrus Mendenhall, was agent for the Stevens Mining Company.
