Awesome Toms River NJ utility collectible. Awesome vignette of a classic female figure in front of an electric generator. Unissued and not cancelled. Water stains and foxing like all known examples. Circa 1920. Measures approximately 12 x 8.5 inches.   

The Ocean County Electric Company was a utility company based in New Jersey that operated during the early 20th century. Reported plans to harness the Toms River's energy via a dam, though it was also linked to significant corporate bond theft investigations in 1920.

Ocean County is a county in the U.S. state of New Jersey, and the southernmost county in the New York metropolitan area. The county borders the Atlantic Ocean on the east and in terms of total area is the state's largest county. Its county seat is Toms River. The county is part of the Jersey Shore region of the state. Ocean County is located 50 miles east of Philadelphia, 70 miles south of New York City, and 25 miles north of Atlantic City, making it a prime vacation destination for residents of these cities during the summer. As with the entire Jersey Shore, summer traffic routinely clogs local roadways throughout the season. Over 31% of Ocean County's total area is water.

Active Era:
The company was prominent in the late 1910s and early 1920s, with many surviving documents dated between 1915 and 1922.

Leadership:
Edmund S. Fritz served as the President of the company. He was a notable businessman who also led other utility firms, including the Central Jersey Power Company and the Hydro-Electric Company.
