ME confectionary company. Common American Eagle vignette with image of capitol above and seaside town the background. Unissued and not cancelled. Dated 19__ but circa 1930 from company records. Measuring approximately 11 x 8.5 inches. 

Peggy Anne Candy Stores was a manufacturer and small retail chain of candies incorporated 1930 in Maine. Stores were normally roadside tourist stops and in small towns carrying local and state traditional confections.

Believed to be started in the Portland ME area. This company product lines fits into Maine's broader history of unique confectioneries, alongside famous local treats like Needhams (potato candy) and the official state treat, the Whoopie Pie. 

Several candy stores and confectioneries were operating in Maine in the 1930s, with notable examples including Len Libby's, the Portland Candy Co., and Seavey's. These businesses often produced their own hand-made chocolates and traditional Maine treats like Needhams (traditional Maine chocolate confectionery bar with a distinctive filling made from mashed potatoes, coconut, and sugar).
