Uncommon water company stock certificate. Fantastic and unusual vignette of waterworks with tanks and piping. Issued and cancelled. Dated 1950. Measures approximately 11 x 7.5 inches.

Southern California Water Company officially changed its name to Golden State Water Company on October 1, 2005. Southern California Water Company began in 1928 as part of the American States Public Service Company and later changed its name in 1936.

1928:
American States Public Service Company starts buying small water systems in California.

1936:
The enterprise officially adopts the name Southern California Water Company.

1951:
The City of Los Angeles condemns and takes over one of the firm's major local water systems.

1976:
The company expands by acquiring California Cities Water Company.

1998:
Executives form a parent holding entity named American States Water Company.

2005+: The core utility operations function under the name Golden State Water Company, serving extensive suburban and regional districts.

Parent Company:
It operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of American States Water Company (NYSE: AWR).

Name Change:
The rebrand united three divisions—Southern California Water Company, Arden-Cordova Water Service, and California Cities Water Company—under the single Golden State Water Company name.

Service Area:
It delivers water services to more than one million residents across 10 counties and 75 communities throughout California.

Additional Services:
The utility also provides electricity to over 22,000 customers in Big Bear, California, through Bear Valley Electric Service.
