The Tarentum Light and Heat Company stock certificate circa 1883

Great early utility stock with state seal of Pennsylvania as the vignette.  Unissued and not cancelled. Dated 188_ on the certificate but circa 1883 from company history.

Incorporated in 1883, the company produced and sold natural gas in Tarentum PA, just Northeast of Pittsburgh. The company started selling to manufacturers in the area but expanded to residential service in 1900's.
