Vallery Oil Company stock certificate circa 1957
Uncommon oil piece with a nice vignette of an eagle perched on a rock in front of a scene of ships at sea. Smaller certificate measuring 5.5" by 10". Unissued but circa 1957 from issued examples.
Incorporated in Nevada for tax purposes in 1957, this company, also known as the Vallery Corp., was eventually renamed as the Crystal Oil Company. The founder was C.R. Merrick who also served as president. The company owned and operated oil and gas fields in Louisiana and nearby states. Crystal Oil (George Soros as the majority shareholder) sold its assets to the Apache Corporation in 1994.
