Rare early Los Angeles oil piece of history. Beautiful vignette of a classical female figure in the upper left. Issued and not cancelled. Dated 1901. Measures approximately 10.5 x 8 inches.   

Founded 1900 in Los Angeles CA (company seal), the Fullerton and Sunset Oil Company focused heavily on petroleum production and exploration across active southern California oil regions like the Coyote and Olinda fields in Orange County.

According to official Los Angeles County Incorporation Records, the company was officially dissolved in 1912.

Local Legacy:
Former oil-producing tracts linked to these early Orange County operations—such as the West Coyote Hills in Fullerton—have transitioned into long-term local conservation and open-space discussions
