Nice Philly streetcar company piece. Beautiful vignette of a horse-drawn trolley in front of a large building which maybe an artist rendition of Independence Hall. Issued and cancelled. Classic black and white format. Dated 1935. Measures approximately 12 x 8.5 inches.   

The Philadelphia and Gray's Ferry Passenger Railway Company was a 19th-century transit entity operating in Philadelphia from 1858 to 1940. As a passenger railway company, it was part of the early public transit network before being integrated into the system later managed by the Philadelphia Rapid Transit Company.

The Philadelphia and Gray's Ferry Passenger Railway Company, chartered on April 9, 1858, was a 19th-century horse-drawn streetcar line in Philadelphia. Operating primarily in South Philadelphia, it utilized routes on streets such as Spruce, Pine, and Catharine. The company was later leased to the Philadelphia Traction Company (PTCo) in 1891.

History:
It was a key part of the precursor lines leading to modern Philadelphia transit, with records indicating it operated streetcars or passenger services on key routes such as 22nd Street.

Connection to PRT:
The company is listed as part of the corporate history of the PRT, which was eventually reorganized into the Philadelphia Transportation Company (PTC) in 1940.
