Short lived 1880s Southeastern NY railroad. Great center vignette of a steam train passing a river scene with mountains in the background. Unissued and not cancelled. Dated 188_ on the back but circa 1887 from company records. Measures approximately 10.5 x 7.5 inches.

The Port Jervis, Monticello and New York Railroad Company was a historic 19th-century New York railroad that underwent financial reorganization, was later succeeded by the Port Jervis, Monticello and Summitville Railroad.

Reorganization (1887):
The line was reorganized under this specific name to run train service in southeastern New York.

Succession (1902):
Following foreclosure and further reorganization, its property was acquired on December 7, 1902, to form the Port Jervis, Monticello and Summitville Railroad Company.

1902–1903:
Reorganized as the Port Jervis, Monticello and Summitville Railroad and taken over on a long-term lease by the New York, Ontario and Western Railway (O&W), which integrated and upgraded the route.

1930s–1950s:
Passenger service ended due to the rise of automobiles and highway competition, with final freight operations ceasing later in the 1950s.

Route Details:
The operational track network ran via a standard-gauge steam line connecting Port Jervis and Monticello, alongside branch extensions toward Summitville, New York.
