Established in 1906 in Hamilton City, California, the Sacramento Valley Sugar Company was a pioneering agribusiness in Northern California. Built by James Hamilton and the Alta California Sugar Beet Company, it became a major local employer before being sold to Spreckels Sugar Company in 1936. The plant ceased operations in 2006
