Volcano Gold Mining Company stock certificate 1901 (Colorado Springs CO)

Very rare Cripple Creek Colorado mining collectible. Fancy print around nameplate. Super nice vignette on the reverse of the certificate with miner and classic female figure flanking a mountain stream scene.  Issued and not cancelled. Dated 1901 (difficult to make out but 1901 was the last operating year of the company from district records). Heavy tape repairs on deep splits through the "V" in 'Volcano'. Measures approximately 11 x 7 inches.

This is the only one of this version that we have seen.   

The Volcano Gold Mining Company was a mining entity operating in Colorado, notably around the Cripple Creek district during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Records indicate the company was active in Colorado Springs, Colorado, around 1899–1901. It was part of the massive Cripple Creek mining boom that produced 21 million ounces of gold.
