The Golden Cycle Corporation was a major historic mining and milling conglomerate in Colorado, best known for processing ore from the Cripple Creek Mining District. Established in 1895 as the Golden Cycle Mining Company that was legally incorporated in West Virginia, it grew to become the largest cyanide mill in the United States, operating out of Colorado Springs.

The company owned interests and land in coal mining at Pikes Peak Consolidated Fuel Company and gold mining in United Gold Mines in Cripple Creek Colorado. The company diversified into real estate and storage but was eventually delisted from the American Stock Exchange in 1979.

Origins:
Founded by John T. Milliken in 1895, the company was later acquired and vastly expanded by Albert E. Carlton in 1915.

The Mill:
Located in Old Colorado City (outside Colorado Springs), the Golden Cycle Mill processed over 14 million tons of gold ore until it ceased operations in 1948.

Legacy:
It was incredibly successful, processing more gold than any other mill in the world during its lifespan.

Physical Remnants:
The iconic smokestack from the original mill still stands today as a protected historic landmark in the Gold Hill Mesa neighborhood of Colorado Springs.
